La belle Province

Day 16: TMC: 990 miles. La Pocatiere to Trois Pistoles: 78 miles. Conditions: Hot.

Today was another easy day, we are starting to see more hills though, however it is good preparation for our hilly day we're expecting tomorrow. The day today was a super scenic route which led us through cottages along the river and through small european-like towns. It solidified the name "La Belle Province" for this beautiful province.

We got to our Motel in Trois Pistoles and sat on the lawn chairs overlooking the river with a glass of wine and chips and enjoyed the cooler rays of sun. We rode into town and went to a dinner restaurant which is actually the owners house transformed to fit dining customers. The meal was fantastic, a four course "Menu D'hote". However, it resulted in having to bike home in the dark. I was completely fine with it, but mama bear complained the whole way. It's safe to say I was releived when we got back to our motel.

Tip of the Day: Prepare for the dark.

  1. There was the most amazing chocolate shop just at the top of the hill in Levi when you get off the ferry and across the street a great little bistrot where we had superb food...not spam sandwiches. If you had only asked!!!!!! Don, Brad and Adele
BTW, we have friends in Fredericton, if you go that way.

  2. Perhaps you should stop at a bike store and get a couple of those helmet lights (they don't weigh much). Might be useful as you're getting into smaller motels without dining facilities and it is getting dark earlier. Hope you are having a good day today!

  3. I've been following the Tour de France on the tv but your Tour de canada is much more gripping especially the photos. Favs so far are the Mountie trying not to smile too much and Julia triumphing over flat tires. Thanks for blogging Julia. It really is a treat to read about your adventures each day.Yours is the only Canadian news I'm reading in London. I've tried sending a comment before but it's been a bit like mama saying goodbye when she means hello.By the way, I love your tip of this day. If the French had prepared for the dark, The British army might not have climbed the cliff beyond Quebec. A bientot. Dan

  6. Hi, Julia,
What fun! Thanks for following! I am wondering if my blog will just be silly, so tell me if you think there is some possibilities. Also, Brad will be in Vancouver for a conference in October, and Adele, my wife, wants to me you all. We have promised ourselves a trip to Van and Vic before too long.

  7. Don, that sounds like a very nice trip. You can never have too much Vancouver in your life. If you come, you and your family are most definetely welcome to come join us at our house for dinner or something or rather. We'd love to meet Adele as we've heard so much about her.
    Julia.
